The Times in a front page story reports that Helpage, Ghana a non- governmental organisation dedicated to the welfare of the aged, has expressed shock and anger at the death of two old women during a prayer session at Klamadoboe, near Juapong in the Volta Region. The Times says the women, Soli Nukpevi and Minyazorzor Golla, both 85, who were accused of being witches, were compelled by Prophet K. Asante, pastor in charge of Truth Ebenezer Healing Church at Akosombo in the Eastern Region, to drink the concoction, to exorcise them of the spirit of witchcraft" Theycollapsed upon drinking the concoction and died soon after. The paper says Helpage Ghana has urged the police and all concerned to "look for this criminal and his accomplice who are operating in the sacred name of God and let them face the full rigours of the law.
