Ghanaian doctors have on Wednesday, October 28, signed a codified conditions of service.

This brings an end to months of negotiations between the doctors and the government and also makes valid the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu’s promise that, negotiations between the doctors and the government will be concluded before October 30, 2015.

In August, members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) embarked on a three to four-week strike and threatened to resign en masse if they do not have codified conditions of service.

The doctors had emphasized until they sign a condition of service they will not return to the wards and theatres.

Both the GMA leadership and members of the government team present at the negotiations are tight-lipped about the new agreement.
