GhanaHomePage Nominated For World Summit Award

GhanaHomePage (ghanaweb.com) has been nominated for the World Summit Award (WSA) as the best e-content and creativity example in Category e-Culture from Ghana.

The World Summit Award is an official side event for the Geneva World Summit on the Information Society. A Showcase Event on best contents from around the world will be held on December 10th in the framework of the WSIS in the Palexpo.

The WSA is an United Nations member states initiative of the Austrian Government, the UNIDO and other European countries as part of the civil society, private sector and public sector collaboration to improve the quality of Information Society by putting into focus quality contents and innovative applications.

An extremely high interest and unprecedented response was received from the World Summit Award's call for nominations for the Expert Panel '03. The leading institutions and organizations in the area of Multimedia, E-content, ICT and internet from 135 countries nominated 394 persons as ?Eminent Experts? in the World Summit Award (WSA). The WSA-Board invited one representative of those countries to select the best product in the 8 categories of the WSA.

The participation of 135 countries exceeded by far the expectation of the organizers.

All products elected by the WSA Grand Jury will be presented at the WSIS in Geneva, December 9 – 13 and honored by the WSA High Patrons such as Austrian Federal Chancellor Wolfgang Sch?ssel at the WSA Showcase Event on December 10.

Mr. Abdoulaye Wade, President of the Republic of Senegal, has agreed to honour the World Summit Award with his patronage.
