Ghana yet to have machine to test electronics- Expert

Takoradi, Oct 22, GNA - Mr Emmanuel Arthur Dickson, an energy Consultant, on Thursday, said though standards for importation of electronic goods had been set, the country was yet to procure the right equipment to test such goods.

The equipment according to him, would cost the nation over one billion dollars and called on policy holders to strategize and purchase the equipment for the good of the nation. Mr Dickson said this at a seminar, organized by the Energy Foundation, in collaboration with the Association of Ghana Industries for Small and Medium enterprises on Energy Efficiency.

The seminar would enable participants to appreciate and mainstream energy efficiency and conserve energy in their business operations. Mr Emmanuel Quao, Regional Manager AGI, said the demand for energy had risen across borders as a result of increased population. "Due to the increase in population growth, nations including Ghana are grappling with how to balance supply with the demand", he added. Mr Quao noted that SMEs used a number of electrical equipment that consumed lots of energy and urged them to adopt best practices that would reduce operational cost, in order for them to maximize profit. 21 Oct. 10
