Ghana to Name Its Crude Output ‘Jubilee Oil,’

Ghana plans to name its exports of crude “Jubilee oil,” when it starts production on Dec. 15, the Ghanaian Times reported.

The Ministry of Energy named the oil after the offshore field where it will be produced, the Accra-based newspaper said, citing an unidentified official.

The West African nation’s oil discovery coincided with the 50th anniversary of its independence from Britain in 2007, the Ghanaian Times said.
