President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to reject ill-gotten wealth and uphold integrity as the country seeks to rebuild trust and reset its national values.

In a message to Ghanaians living abroad to mark Ghana Independence Day on March 6, 2026, the President said Ghana’s progress depends not only on government policies but also on the attitudes and actions of citizens and leaders.

According to him, rebuilding the nation requires a strong commitment to honesty, accountability, and responsible leadership.

“Resetting Ghana is about resetting values, resetting expectations, and resetting the very relationship between leaders and the led,” President Mahama said.

He cautioned that national development cannot thrive in a society that celebrates wealth obtained through dishonest means.

“We must teach our children that integrity is non-negotiable; that wealth acquired through dubious means is a curse and not a blessing, and that true success is measured not by what we accumulate, but by what we contribute to national progress,” he stated.

The President’s message forms part of the government’s broader national “reset” agenda, which seeks to strengthen institutions, promote transparency, and rebuild public trust in governance.

He also used the occasion to encourage the Ghanaian diaspora to remain actively involved in national development. Many Ghanaians abroad continue to support the country through investments, remittances, and advocacy.
