Ghana's PC grants Pressure Tech Engineering operating permit

Pressure Tech Engineering Limited, a Ghanaian Petroleum Engineering Company has been granted permit by the Petroleum Commission, Ghana to undertake upstream petroleum services in Lifting Inspection, Calibration & Equipment and material supply services.
This was disclosed by Mr. Chris Taylor, Country Manager of Pressure Tech Engineering during an interview with News Ghana. He noted that "Pressure Tech Engineering's believe in excellence in engineering services for the oil and gas sector, is what has guided its decisions to secured a valid Petroleum Commission Upstream Permit."

With the permit, the company can undertake several downstream services to support Ghana's budding, but complex Oil and Gas sector which is begging for increased local participation.

To this end, Pressure Tech Engineering currently has 4 Certified Trainers, a Level III NDT Supervisor / Trainer and what is believed to be the first female PCN Level II NDT Inspector in Ghana, Ellen Aba Ninsin. He was recently commended and featured by the Offshore Ghana Magazine for her offshore inspection on crane works.

Services

Mr. Chris Taylor explained that some of its services of both streams (Upstream and downstream) include, product supply in Lifting equipment and lifting accessories; which allows Pressure Tech to hold full stock of chains, hoists, lashings, webbing slings, shackles (both Crosby and Van Beest), eyebolts, hooks among others.

These are done at very competitive prices as part of its services as the main agent for Burncrete, an international Oil and Gas logistics supplier.

It also undertakes Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Scopes, Pressure Testing and Crane services of all kinds as well vessel services like; thickness gauging, loose lifting, equipment inspection, pedestal crane inspection and wire rope change out on winches.

The company which is located in four countries including Ghana (headquarters) also has its own workshop, 150t Test Bed and Presses which are capable of pressing wire rope from 10 mm through to 52 mm, with a huge stock of wire rope, thimbles, ferrules and master links. It also has the Test beds capable of pull testing, proof loading and calibration.

The other countries where Pressure Tech operates include, Cote D'Ivoire, Liberia, and Equatorial Guinea. In all of its operations and locations, Pressure Tech Engineering carries out all its services under very strict safety conditions.

Local Content

He said as part of the companies resolve to increase the capacity of indigenes, "We are fully complying with the Ghanaian Local Content Law and hence having more than 90% locals working in all departments of the company."

Furthermore, as a result of the company's believe in the technical and vocational training, "All Engineers at Pressure Tech Engineering start off with a minimum of HND in Mechanical Engineering, from there they can specialise into the many areas that we cover; such as Pressure Testing, Crane Inspection, Rigging and Container Inspection, Calibration, Proof and Load testing, NDT Scopes and so on."
