Ghana's Ambassador-Designate to Italy, H.E. Mona Quartey, and the Ambassador to the Vatican, H.E. Ben Assorow, have paid a courtesy call on the Chancellor of the Pontifical Academies of Sciences, Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson.

The meeting took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, and formed part of the ambassadors’ official engagements ahead of the assumption of their respective diplomatic roles. The Ambassador to the Vatican, H.E. Ben Assorow, has since assumed official duties.

The visit was aimed at formally introducing themselves to Cardinal Turkson and engaging him on matters of mutual interest involving Ghana, Italy, and the Vatican. Discussions also focused on areas of cooperation and shared concerns relevant to Ghana’s diplomatic and developmental priorities.

The ambassadors were accompanied by the spouse of the Ambassador-Designate to Italy, Architect Ian Quartey.

The courtesy call underscored Ghana’s continued commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations with both Italy and the Holy See, as well as maintaining close ties with prominent Ghanaian figures serving in international institutions.
