The death was confirmed in a statement by the Director of Communications of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG), Mohammed Amin Lamptey, according to a report by graphic.com.gh.
According to the statement, Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu passed away at the plains of Mount Arafat on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
He has since been buried in line with Islamic traditions after his family was informed.
The report added that the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana worked with Saudi authorities to notify the family and provide updates before the burial.
The incident comes five days after reports emerged that another Ghanaian pilgrim died while performing the Tawaf ritual at the Haram in Mecca.
The earlier incident, also announced by the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG), involved a 53-year-old prospective pilgrim who collapsed during the circumambulation of the Kaaba.
