$3000 Per Diem For President Kufuor?

Question: Is it true that President Kufuor has increased his per diem to the tune of over three thousand dollars ($3000) as stated by Kofi Wayo (READ)?

Member of Parliament: This is one area [the] gov't has refused to clarify over the last four years. We were reliably informed that it had been increased, from the $500 Rawlings received, to $2,000 in early 2001.

The $3,000 quoted by Kofi Wayo is the latest speculation on how much the President recieves as per diem. But it is certainly one area govt has remained absolutely mum about. Who knows? it is probably more than $3,000.

[Let your readers know that], parliament does not approve per diems for the executive. That is handled administratively at the Chief of Staff's office in the Presidency. The best source of official information would be the Chief of Staff's office. However officials at the ministry of Finance and Accountant generals Dept or the Bnak of Ghana would have access to this information.
