Ghana must come first – Peace Council Chair

Ahead of the Supreme Court ruling on the election petition filed by three leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against the Electoral Commission (EC) and President Mahama, Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel K. Asante has urged Ghanaians not to disturb the peace of the nation.

According to him, Ghanaians should allow the rule of law to take its course in order to consolidate the peace that has since been the bedrock of the country.

Professor Emmanuel Asante, in an interview with Radio Gold, keenly implored the entire Ghanaian populace to be patriotic in their activities, as they make another giant step in the annals of the country’s history.

He therefore stressed his plea to all Ghanaians “to respect the rule of law and accept whatever judgement that comes. Obviously, the judgement that will come will not suit everybody. There is bound to be winners; there is bound to be people who will see themselves to be losers. At end of the day, Ghana will be the winner because we have chosen the path of the rule of law.”

“Let us think about Ghana because Ghana is very important. Ghana must come first before our own party…”
