Ghana is setting an example for Africa in health transformation through digital innovation, hospital modernization, and equitable access to care, Minister of Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has said.

He made this known at the 2025 World Health Expo in Accra on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Mintah Akandoh calls for strategic investments in Africa’s health sector

"Ghana is implementing a national retailing program that upgrades diagnostics imaging, strengthens laboratory and pathology services, expands electricity, and integrates digital systems to support rapid clinical decision-making.

"These investments transform our hospitals into models of health and physician and to confront both current disease burdens and emerging trends with precision and speed", he noted.

He continued, "This digitization is strengthening governance, improving operational efficiency, and making our health system more responsive to our citizens.

"It is enabling us to track disease faster, allocate resources more efficiently, and hold ourselves accountable to higher standards of performance and transparency. Bigger transformation is not an accessory to our reforms".

More than 350 global and African health leaders have gathered in Accra for the second edition of the World Health Expo (WHX) Leaders Africa Summit.

The high-level forum is focused on accelerating healthcare transformation and building resilient health systems across the continent.

The summit is scheduled for December 9–10, 2025. It is being held under the theme, “Catalysing Africa’s Health Revolution through Investment, Innovation, Impact and Infrastructure.”
