The Deputy Minister of Defence, Brogya Genfi, has disclosed that the Ministry has sought international collaboration to probe the military helicopter crash at Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom district of the Ashanti Region.
At a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, he gave the assurance that investigations into the incident will be transparent.
“We also want to assure you that the Ghana Armed Forces has already begun investigations into the incident. We have made a request for international collaboration and have received a positive response in that regard.
“And so, we want to assure you, our chiefs, that nothing will be covered. It will be transparent, and the public will know exactly what happened in the course of this tragic accident,” he stated.
Brogya Genfi further cautioned the media against spreading misinformation about the helicopter crash.
“We want to caution the media and some panelists who have been churning out misinformation and untruths about this whole incident.
“All I want to say is that Ghanaians should trust that the Ministry and the Ghana Armed Forces are going to be diligent about the investigations and will be transparent about them. Whatever the cause, it will be made known to the people of Ghana, and we will take lessons from it,” he assured.

The devastating helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of several high-ranking government officials and military personnel, including the Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
The officials were scheduled to attend the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Program (rCOMSDEP) at Obuasi.

Reports indicate that the aircraft lost contact with radar shortly after takeoff.
A state funeral will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra to honour the eight (8) fallen heroes.
