‘Ghana is poor under Mahama’ - Akufo-Addo Group

Student Network for Nana Addo (STUNNAD) says it will resist the distribution of sanitary pads to adolescent girls in schools.

“We would like to advise every young girl who loves to see a brighter ‘tomorrow’ not to accept this pad. Isn’t this same NDC who campaigned that’ anything free is evil?” the group said.

According to the group, as a country, if every basic need of it could only be attained through loans and grants, then the country is in the abyss.

STUNNAD wondered why Ghana, which according to officials of the ruling NDC is enjoying better things and good life, cannot afford to fund sanitary pads for school girls being one of the cheapest products on the Ghanaian Market.

In a statement, STUNNAD said “President Mahama and his NDC government, irrespective of the country being blessed with everything that the earth can offer, including gold and oil; leads the nation always to pick its saucers and silvers for begging.

A government that cannot pay for statutory funds including school feeding, GETFund, Capitation grant, scholarship funds, NHIS fund, teachers’ salaries and allowances can rather go for a loan to buy pads for school girls? The group quizzed.

“Interestingly, the government that has promised free SHS education in the next two years is now going for a loan for scholarships for the same SHS students. One may want to ask the definition of their free education and who the beneficiaries are. It is obvious that the NDC’s free SHS is just a scam and phoney, which can never be compared with Nana Addo’s comprehensive free education program.”

The statement said if government would have to borrow huge sums of money for monitory and evaluation of the construction of school buildings while teachers are unpaid for about two years, “then Ghana has a long way to go under President Mahama and his inept NDC.”
