Ghana hosts training programme for African NGOs

Accra, Sept. 12, GNA - About 60 Non-Governmental Organizations from 26 African countries including Ghana based in rural areas and focused on promoting health related issues, are to be trained in resource mobilisation to enable them effectively carry out projects and programmes. The training programme would also give the beneficiary organizations the opportunity to promote networking with other bodies to support people in rural areas.

Again, the seminar aimed at increasing the organisations' abilities to undertake advocacy programmes as well as design and implement methods of monitoring and evaluation. These were contained in a statement signed by Dr Akudo Ikemba Anyanwu, Chief Executive Officer of Friends Africa, organizers of the seminar said.

He said the seminar would be followed with a six month support programme where participants would be monitored to ensure that they meet the expected progress.

"The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and malaria recognises the importance of community level organisations such as NGOs, Civil Society Organisations and Faith-Based organizations as strategic on the ground resources for delivering key services," the statement said. 12 Sept. 08
