Ghana envoy in Japan seeks more investment

Increased Japanese investment in the Republic of Ghana would be "mutually beneficial" to both sides, Ghanaian Ambassador to Japan Dr. Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah told The Japan Times on Friday.

There has been an improvement in incentives for foreign investors, and policies in certain sectors, such as mining, have been reviewed to enable investors to participate more substantially and manufacture value-added products, he said.

"I hope Japanese investors and entrepreneurs will take advantage of the improved incentives, upgraded infrastructure and generally favorable investment climate in our country," he said. "Ghana is not so far away from Japan."

On May 13, the African community in Japan will celebrate African Day. A symposium will also be held at United Nations University in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo.

Adjei-Barwuah has been ambassador to Japan since February 2002.
