Ghana can rely on Jordan in attack - Ex Captain Kwesi Owusu

Kwesi Owusu, former captain of the Black Stars, has described striker Jordan Ayew as the solution to the striking problems in the national team, having netted two goals in the competition for Ghana at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

He said, Ayew had been Ghana’s best player in the ongoing AFCON, after scoring two goals in the last three games and deserves commendation.

The striker scored the first goal in the must-win game against Guinea-Bissau to put his tally in the competition to two, after scoring superb solo in the opening game against Benin.

Speaking in an interview with GNA Sports, the former striker said, “Jordan has learnt a lot from Gyan and other former strikers. He has improved significantly since the tournament started. He has the pace, dribbles well, power and also very good at one-on-one situations. “He has simply demonstrated the qualities of a good striker.

“The coach made a good decision by making Jordan his first choice striker in the tournament ahead of Asamoah Gyan and other strikers.

“The young strikers who are on the bench are also making a case for themselves anytime they were introduced,” he added

The former Black Stars top scorer urged the young players to learn from the experienced players in camp to cement their positions in the national team.

Jordan Ayew’s two goals has made him joined with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane in the top scoring chart in the ongoing AFCON.
