Ghana among 4 African countries to receive training on migration governance

Ghana, together with Lesotho, Malawi and Tanzania have been shortlisted to partake in the First Member States/Regional Economic Communities Training on migration governance.

The event which aims at prioritizing migration governance is scheduled to take place from Monday, December 9 to Friday, December 13, 2019 in Accra.

The week intensive training is a response to a capacity building needs assessment survey that the African Union Commission conducted among Member States and RECs in 2018.

In line with the findings of the assessment, the Commission in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and The University of Ghana’s Centre for Migration are the host of the training yet to be rolled out.

Topics to be treated during the training include migration and development nexus, Establishing national coordinating mechanisms on migration, Conducting situation analyses/drafting Migration Profiles, Formulating migration policies, Mainstreaming national/regional migration policies into national/regional development plans.
