The Minister of Tourism Culture and Creative Arts, Catherine Abelema Afeku, has urged staff of the sightseeing industry to show passion for, and commitment to, working to facilitate the advancement of the industry. While at it, industry players should embrace modern trends and new technologies to be able to compete with their counterparts in Sub-Saharan Africa and the world over.

Mrs. Afeku was addressing the Biennial Congress of the Senior Staff Association of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), at Sunyani in the Bono-Ahafo Region, on the theme, ‘Achieving Tourism Excellence – The Role of Senior Staff.’

The minister announced that new members of the Ghana Tourism Board are going to be sworn in soon to allow for the beginning of the execution of all plans laid down to boost the industry.

The CEO of the GTA, Akwasi Agyemang, assured that growth of the sector will be speeded up, mentioning that some three months employee salary arrears had been cleared, and, a 100-seater conference hall built at the head office to accommodate various staff activities.

In addition, a provident fund had been established to cater for staff on retirement, according to Mr. Agyemang, who, thus, encouraged all to look into the future and give of their best to build industry.
