Ghana To Get Financial Assistance From Germany

For 3 Years, 2010 To 2012

More means for rural development. The German Federal Ministry of economic, collaboration and development wants to invest from the year 2010 to 2012 a total of three milliard US dollars in rural development and food protection.

A suitable assent of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel at the last year's G8 summit in Italy is kept, The German developent minister Dirk Niebel, announced at a conference in Berlin. " We put as the new Federal Government the rural space again in the centre of our policy", said the German Minister for Development, Mr. Niebel on a conference about ways to the ending of the hunger to which the world food program of the United Nations (WFP) and the relief organisation of Oxfam had invited.

The development of rural rooms is the key to the poverty fight and for the reaching of the millennium development objectives. In the rural space lie huge developing potentials and Chancen, pointed the ministers. The number of the starving in the world has risen during the last years of about 850 millions on about a milliard.

The strong increase of the food prices as well as the financial crisis and economic crisis has met the developing countries especially hard. Hunger is, primarily, a result of poverty, caused by missing possibilities of employment. Hence, in the centre of the hunger fight we have to help the people to work for income.

Comprehensive rural development tells, above all to improve the political, economic and juridical basic conditions according to the German Development Minister Mr. Niebel. " Rural development is even more than only the support of the agriculture by better seeds, fertilizer and irrigation technology.

Mr. Niebel, the Germany Development Minister confirmed at the G8 summit in 2009 in Italy, that they will invest some Millions of US dollars in rural development and food protection, within the next 3 years from 2010 to 2012.

He said, already this year we have provided additional 44 million euros as a knock-on financing to be able to increase existing good projects unbureaucratic. Countries to profit from this plan are Ghana, Afghanistan, Laos, Cambodia, Bolivia, Peru, Kenya and Ethiopia
