Ghana Telecom to upgrade mobile and fixed networks

Ho, Oct 2, GNA- Mr Oystein Bjorge, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Telecom (GT) said on Wednesday that the Company would upgrade its mobile and fixed networks under an expansion programme. Interacting with Journalists as part of a working visit to Ho, Mr Bjorge said the company's facilities would be modernised and rehabilitated to offer efficient service to customers.

He said the GT would increase its capacity of fixed lines from 100,000 to 750,000 by the end of this year. Mr Bjorge said there were plans to put up a permanent Regional Office in Ho. He admitted that the billing system of the Company was not good enough resulting in loss of revenue citing, Kumasi and Accra where the Company finds it difficult to trace addresses of customers.

Mr Bjorge held a staff durbar, inspected GT installations in Ho, including a new site for the regional office and its microwave station in Ho. Mr Douglas Wagba, Volta Regional Head of the company advised customers to pay their bills regularly to avoid disconnection.
