Accra, March 31, GNA - Authorities of Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC), on Tuesday opened the second edition of a career fair for the students and other potential job seekers in Accra.

The fair on the theme: "Securing a Future in a Technology Driven Economy," is to create the platform to link students to the job market. Mrs Evelyn Asiedu, Head of Students Affairs, pledged the commitment of authorities to help students secure bright future in the technology driven world. She said the fair would create opportunity for students to interact with employers in Information, Communication and Telecommunication (ICT) and telecom related fields, to market themselves for internship and employment opportunities. Mrs Asiedu said as a young university committed to excellence in teaching and research, the authorities had resolved to provide cutting-edge training to the students to equip them adequately to excel. Mr Herman Chinery-Hesse, Director, SoftTribe Limited said the ICT sector was immune from the social and political sphere, adding there are businesses that offer

unique opportunities for students graduating from the university in the telecom

sector. He encouraged the students to be innovative and creative to bring out new ideas

to enhance the telecommunication industry. "The ability to create and sustain their own business as they go out to explore the

market; would help boost their confidence and ensure a greater chance of success in

their lives," he added. Mr Robert Awuah-Baffour Acting Vice President of GTUC urged the students to

distinguish themselves from other people seeking for jobs. He expressed gratitude to the management of companies who participated in the

fair and urged other potential corporate entities to emulate them in future. 31 March 10
