Ghana Prisons Service to construct JSS block

Accra, Oct. 28, GNA - Nii Amasah Namoale, the Member of Parliament for Dadekotopon, and the Ghana Prison Service will jointly build a junior secondary school block for the Rangoon Camp 2 Primary School at Cantonments in Accra.

Nii Namoale is providing over 100 million cedis from his share of the Common Fund for the project while the Prisons Service will supply labour and other human services.

Cutting the sod for work to begin on Saturday, Nii Namoale said the decision to provide the area with the block followed an appeal the authorities made to him.

"Because the Ghana Prisons Service is located in the same community it decided to lend its support."

He said besides the project, the possibility of providing the area with a community day secondary school was being considered. The constituency already has Saint Thomas Aquinas, Labonne and the La Presbyterian Secondary schools.

Nii Namoale urged parents to see their children's education as a necessity and right irrespective of the cost.

"It is very important that parents go the extra mile to sacrifice to educate their children, even at the first cycle level, because later in life the child on his own can even continue to the university." '"Most adults are now determine to enter the university today because at least their parents and guardians were able to provide them with some level of education," he said. Mr K. Tsegah, a Director at the Prisons Service Headquarters, joined the MP to cut the sod cutting for the work. Mrs Mary Nyoagbe, the Headmistress of the Rangoon Camp '2' Primary School, expressed the school's gratitude to the MP and said materials for project had already been supplied ahead of time. 28 Oct. 06
