Ghana Premier League kick-off excites Medeama goalkeeper Antwi

Medeama goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi has admitted his happiness following news that the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season will commence on Saturday.

An Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Anthony Yeboah on Thursday, threw out an injunction application on the league by Great Olympics to pave way for the top-flight which was initially billed to kick off in February to finally start.

"I am excited that the season is finally starting just like many other Ghanaians. Football is the number one sport in the country so if we are unable to play it for several months, it hurts," Ofori told Goal.

"I'm looking forward to have a successful campaign with Medeama after the slow start in my first season. I want to keep many clean sheets and help the club to at least finish in the top four.

"We've got a youthful side this time around but we're very dangerous than before and will cause a lot of troubles to opposing clubs. I know our supporters will now have something to smile about," he added.

Medeama will host debutants Karela United at the T&A Park in Tarkwa on Sunday.
