Ghana Police trains SWAT team to fight terrorism

The first batch of one hundred and forty (140) police officers has ended a month’s intensive training in Specialized Training Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) at the Ho Police Training School.

Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, said the Police are ready to safeguard the country against any form of terrorist attacks.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 140 police officers on Friday, Mohammed Alhassan said the dynamic trend of criminal activities across the world, especially in Africa and the sub-region, is a challenge to the security agencies in Ghana, hence the need to continuously train and be combat ready.

The IGP, however, cautioned the officers not to abuse the skills they have acquired but rather use it to the advantage of the citizens of the country.
