Ghana National Fire Service Throws Caution

Ghana National Fire Service is calling on Gas filling stations to uphold safety precautions. Ghana National Fire Service is calling on Gas filling stations to uphold safety precautions.

Considering the rate of fires at Gas filling stations and the loss of lives and property effected from that, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is ensuring with urgency safety prevalence at Gas filling stations.

The Chief Fire Ofiicer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Dr Albert Brown Gaisie has directed all Commanders at various levels to intensify their patrols and monitoring of all gas installations to ensure complaince of standard safety measures.

The command of the Ghana Fire Service is also reminding the general public that the Fire Precautions Regulations (2003) places a duty on property owners especially Gas Marketing Companies to comply with the fire risk assessment.
Various Command Structures are to liaise with the owners to conduct regular fire audits and series of safety education in their respective regions.
Report on this must be submitted to the Headquaters by 25th January 2017.

The Ghana National Fire Service is therefore warning Gas Filling Station owners that the service will continue to close down Filling Stations that violate these regulations.
This is to ensure strict complaince to L.I 1724,2003.

The public is also being advised to take safe precautions to avoid fire outbreaks in any form or contact the fire service immediately if the need be.
