Ghana Dental Association elects new officers

Members of the Ghana Dental Association (GDA) at its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) elected seven new executive members to lead the association for the next two years.

The members were sworn into office at the end of the AGM at Koforidua at the weekend.

They include Dr Asante Appiah as president, Dr Paapa Pupulampu, vice president, Dr Cecelia Kakrabah-Quarshie, general secretary, Dr Richard Atuwo-Ampoh, assistant general secretary and Dr Gwen Amaaquaye, treasurer.

Other members are Dr Adbul Razak Mohammed, male representative and Dr Sandra Osei Sarfo as female representative.

Dr Appiah called for collective efforts to bring the two dental schools in the country to internationally acceptable standard.

He appealed to members of the association to support the new executives to bring the GDA to the level that all members were aspiring for the association to be.

As part of the AGM, the association also conferred fellowship on six dental surgeons for their contribution to the development of oral health practice.

They are, Dr Godfred Otu, Dr Florence Adadevoh, Dr Irene Esmeralda Sogbodzo, Dr Patrick Eric Karikari, Dr Edward Daniel Tettey Sugah and Dr David Oppong-Mensah.

The association also inducted 23 newly graduated dentists from the Medical and Dental College of the University of Ghana, and five other graduates from the Dental School of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
