According to the commission, the new requirement is aimed at improving claims handling, strengthening Know-Your-Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance, reducing fraud, and aligning Ghana’s insurance sector with global financial service standards.
The NIC described the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and regulation in the insurance industry.
The commission urged all motorists to take note of the new requirement and ensure they have their Ghana Cards available when visiting motor insurance sales points from the effective date.
