Ghana Audit Service hosts Chinese delegation

Accra, April 26, GNA - The Ghana Audit Service is hosting a six-member team from the China National Audit Office in an effort aimed at deepening the relationship between them. The two-day visit would enable the Chinese to interact with their Ghanaian counterparts on how annual audits are planned and undertake training practices.

Mr Richard Quartey, Aud itor-General said as audit institutions the two offices had the mandate to promote accountability and good governance within the respective public sectors in the two countries. He said the Service had taken seriously to building public confidence through its audit reports to Parliament, and the visit would look at areas of co-operation in the various areas of audits, especially environmental auditing.

Mr Quartey called on stakeholders to co-operate with the Service to ensure that public resources were used and managed to accelerate the process of the country's socio-economic development. He expressed the hope that the visit would culminate in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for better performance and peer review.

Mr Liu Haiyu, Leader of the delegation, said China hoped that through exchanges with African countries she would share ideas and best practices in auditing. 26 April 11
