Ghana Armed Forces confirms arrest of two soldiers in alleged robbery

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has affirmed that its outfit, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, has arrested two of its soldiers and some civilians.

In a press statement issued by the GAF, signed by its Acting Director-General of Public Relations, Captain (Naval) Veronica Adzo Arhin, on October 2, 2025, it noted that the two officers, together with some civilians, were picked up due to extortion-related cases.

The press statement further detailed that the said extortion incident happened at LongShine Mining Company Limited in Prestea-Obouhu on September 28, 2025.

"The Ghana Armed Forces is collaborating with the Ghana Police Service to establish an allegation of extortion incident involving two soldiers and some civilian accomplices at LongShine Mining Company Limited in Prestea-Obouhu on Sunday, 28 September 2025," the statement read.

GAF further assured Ghanaians that the personnel will be sanctioned if found guilty of all allegations leveled against them.

"If found culpable, personnel will face the law as any citizen of Ghana," the statement added.

It will be recalled that on October 1, 2025, a video of the unidentified military personnel went viral on X, where two officers were seen handcuffed as they made entry into a police pickup van.
