Ghana Airways to Fly Banjul-New York Route

The United States Department of Transportation has approved the Gambia as the last point of departure for Ghana Airways during its direct flights to John F Kennedy Airport in New York.

According to a press release from the United States Embassy in Banjul, 'this is a landmark event for the Gambia as well as the United States'.

It went on to state that while the agreement symbolises the existing cultural, social and economic ties between the two countries, it will also serve to expand and deepen those this. The US Ambassador George Haley expressed his gratitude to the government of The Gambia, particularly the secretary of state for Works Edward Singhatey and his predecessor Sarjo Jallow and their staff for making the agreement a reality.

When contact, a spokesperson for Ghana Airways confirmed the agreement but said they are yet to work out the details of the flights and their frequency.
