German Consultant paid ?119 Million in 2 Weeks

In the wake of the impasse between workers and management of the Penang Shipbuilding and Construction, Tema Shipyard and Drydock Limited, management of the company employed the services of a consultant, for which the company paid $1,000 a day.

Information reaching THE INDEPENDENT indicates that the consultant, a German domiciled in Indonesia, whose name was given as Rudi Schulz, is a friend of the Chief Executive, Richard Lamble.

According to sources, Rudi was the second consultant to be contracted to investigate the impasse and come out with suggestions to solve it. The services of a Ghanaian, Nick Opoku had been sought earlier on.

Also disclosed was the fact that the consultant’s services were requested despite the vehement disapproval of workers of the company who expressed the view that the tripartite committee set up by the government was the ultimate body qualified to deal with their grievances.
