Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee and Ghana FA Executive Committee member, George Afriyie says he was surprised when officers at the Nima Police Station questioned him about an assassination attempt he and Kofi Manu allegedly masterminded over Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly known as Countryman Songo.
It had been reported that the two were invited by the Nima Police over a report by a taxi driver accusing them of masterminding an assassination attempt on the sports host of a program on Adom TV and Asempa FM called FIRE 4 FIRE.
Speaking exclusively to sportscrusader.com, George Afriyie said, “I had a call from a policeman from Nima Police Station that I am needed for interrogation with regards to an assassination case”.
“I went to the FA on my way to the police station and I heard Kofi Manu also making the same statement. We went together and upon seeing the police, he said that a taxi driver came to make a report that he picked some two gentlemen who were speaking Hausa saying that Kofi Manu and I have hired them to assassinate Songo,” George added.
“The taxi driver did not bring the two there but he claimed he dropped them at Lapaz and drove to make the report at the Nima Police Station. We only wrote our statements and left the station,” he concluded.
