George Afriyie claims Nyantakyi sacked him after infamous text message to FA Boss

Former Ghana Football Association vice president, George Afriyie, has stated categorically that his boss Kwesi Nyantakyi opted to relieve him off his duties and not the Executive Committee Members.

Afriyie, who has been second-in-command to the president of the Association for three years was sacked following a meeting of the GFA executive committee last Tuesday. The GFA announced the decision in a tweet, adding that a new vice president will be announced soon.

In an exclusive interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Mr.Afriyie revealed the person behind his removal as the Ghana FA vice President.

“President Nyantakyi relieved me off my duties because he had the power to do so.”

“One thing a lot of people don’t know is that after my infamous text message to Mr. Nyantakyi, I was ready to resign, but seven top officials advised and asked me to stay on.”

“The likes of Randy Abbey, Fred Pappoe, Sannie Daara, J.Y Appiah and others advised me to stay.”

“I am not one of those who will betray Kwesi Nyantakyi. I have supported him ever since he became the FA president”, he added.

“I am just here to set the record straight.”



“This is the time to redeem the image of Ghana Football.”

George Afriyie has already declared his intention to contest for the Ghana FA presidential seat next year.
