Gender Ministry introduces project to integrate street children back into families

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has pledged to ensure that street children are not left behind in the development agenda of this country.

As Ghana joins the world to mark the International Day for Street Children, the ministry has outlined plans to rid Ghana’s streets of homeless children.

In a statement signed by the Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Dzabah, the ministry announced the initiating of '#OPERATION GET OFF THE STREET NOW FOR A BETTER LIFE PROJECT'.

The project seeks to “provide a better alternative to street life and integrate persons back into families and communities”.

According to the statement, “the Government aims to create a society of fair opportunities for all Ghanaians. The Government will help create a fair and inclusive society, which ensures that all citizens share in the country’s wealth and prosperity”.

This year’s celebration of the International Day of Street Children which is marked on the 12th of April every year is under the theme “turn words into reality”.
