Gender Ministry 'clears' Otiko Djaba over alleged GHC892m missing cash saga

Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has dismissed claims that Otiko Afisa-Djaba has been indicted by the 2017 Auditor-General's Report.

The Ministry described such reports as mischievous and erroneous that has damaged the 'name of the hard-earned reputation of the Minister'.

Otiko Afisah Djaba was mentioned alongside Finance Minister, Ofori-Atta, and Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Employment and Labour Relations Minister in GH¢892m ‘missing’ cash saga.

But in a rejoinder written and signed by the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry, Alfred Obeng, he rebutted that at the time those infractions were committed, the current Government wasn't in power as such Otiko Afisa-Djaba hadn't been appointed Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

He adds that the alleged embezzlement of the funds occurred during the tenure of the previous Minister and the 2017 Auditor-General's report rightly captures the dates the issues took place.
