An online child protection organisation, J Initiative (JI) Ghana, is accusing the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection of neglecting a Helpline of Hope Call Centre it launched about a year ago aimed at providing a platform for citizens and the vulnerable in society to report the emotional and physical abuse they face.
According to the group, an assessment of the response centre indicates that the platform does not have what it takes to fight the abuse of children and the vulnerable in society since the platform has remained unresponsive to distress calls.
Executive Director of the organisation, Awo Aidam Amenyah, told Class News on Friday 23 March 2018 that they have decided to besiege the ministry in the coming days to seek clarification on their operations.
But the Gender Ministry has denied the allegations.
Programmes Director at the Helpline of Hope Call Centre, Florence Afriyie Mensah, said the platform developed some technical faults in the previous weeks which has since been resolved.
