Gas solidify bonds with Anerhor in Togo

Accra, April 1, GNA - The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Tawiah III on Monday said the Ga state was gradually developing in all aspects and entreated all people living within the Greater Accra Region to help protect the prevailing peace and harmony for the benefit of the country.

"The Ga state is well and is growing from strength to strength", he said and urged that all must work together to ensure that the Ga state became united in love and with understanding. Nii Tackie Tawiah III said this at a grand ceremony in honour of Togbe Ahawoto Savado Zankli Lawson VIII, Anerhor Mantse from the Republic of Togo. The Anerho clan ac cording to history were people of the Ga state who settled in Togo in the sixteen century due to protracted conflicts. The ceremony saw a routine of chiefs dressed in beautiful traditional apparel amidst firing of muskets to portray the rich culture of the Gas.

The visit was to reciprocate an earlier one by the Ga Mantse to Togo last year, to establish a stronger bond between the Ga descendants of the Anerho people and their ancestral home. Togbe Lawson VIII noted that, to achieve perfect development between the two states (The Ga and Anerhor), there was the need for strong partnership adding, "We are back to our root and our oneness that existed since creation of the world has come back". He called for a redefinition of their unity to deepen their cultural understanding saying, "We shall then initiate the process of revaluation and assimilation of our cultural practices." Shiekh I C Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister lauded the initiative and said it would go a long way to harness development among the two states.

The Ga Traditional Council presented a mural with inscription 'A dancing Chief' to Togbe Lawson VIII of Anerhor, who also gave in return a wooden art symbolising the unity and oneness of the African continent.
