The Africa Prosperity Network (APN), a company founded by New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has reportedly sued Sankofa Advisory Group, the purported owners and organisers of Africa Oil Week (AOW), over the cancellation of a contract, citing pressure from the government of Ghana.

According to a report by asaaseradio.com, APN seeks to recover US$300,000 in unpaid service fees for work it carried out for Sankofa Advisory Group between 2024 and 2025.

The report indicated that Gabby's company has accused Sankofa Advisory Group of terminating its partnership agreement on the Africa Oil Week programme in bad faith.

APN claimed that the group cancelled the contract under the pretext that it was being pressured by the John Dramani Mahama government to do so.

Details of the writ, cited in the report, indicated that one Paul Sinclair, the Chief Executive Officer of Sankofa, persuaded Gabby's company to lead his company's plan to relocate the African Oil Week from Cape Town, South Africa, where the programme had been hosted for the past 30 years.

It indicated that APN successfully led the efforts to relocate the AOW to the capital of Ghana, Accra.

After securing partnerships and endorsements from stakeholders, including the Office of the President, Sankofa, led by its CEO, allegedly reneged on the agreement using fabricated claims.

Sankofa's CEO allegedly lied to Otchere-Darko by falsely claiming that senior officials of the current government of Ghana at Jubilee House had pressured him to cut ties with APN.

Gabby's company, however, maintained that the claims by Sinclair are false because Mahama's government has shown support for APN's work since he assumed office.

APN cited the APD 2025 it organised, which was attended by top officials of the government, including President John Mahama, Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Energy Minister John Jinapor and Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga.
