The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, met King Charles III at the 2026 Commonwealth Day celebrations in London on March 8, 2026.
Visuals of the event showed the two kings, who were meeting for the first time, exchanging pleasantries.
The two men were pictured with Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Commonwealth Secretary-General, who was holding her first Commonwealth Day celebration.
Also present at the event were Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana High Commissioner to the UK/Ireland, Sabah Zita Benson, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwase III and his Queen, Olori Ivie Atuwatse, the High Commissioner of Jamaica to the UK, HE Alexander Williams, along with other distinguished leaders.
A statement on King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II’s participation in the Commonwealth Day activities said it was "a strategic convergence of influence, diplomacy, and cultural identity that can open meaningful pathways for the Ga State and Ghana as a whole."
It added that the gathering has real potential to strengthen cultural diplomacy and build institutional partnerships, positioning the Ga State as an active contributor to the Commonwealth’s multicultural dialogue, particularly between the Ga State and Buckingham Palace.
It also indicated that the Ga Mantse meeting the Olu of Warri, his longtime friend, reinforces regional and historical ties among West African kingdoms and also creates opportunities for collaboration on cultural, economic, and traditional leadership.
The statement added that "for the Ga Mantse, these engagements transcend symbolism to reflect a leadership style rooted in openness, partnership, and long-term vision. By stepping onto global platforms, the Ga Mantse amplifies the voice of the Ga people, ensuring their culture and priorities are represented in international conversations in his commitment to modern, outward-looking leadership."
