GWCL to replace Dilapidated Pumps at Mampong

Kumasi, Feb.4, GNA- The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL),has taken delivery of eight new pumps to replace dilapidated ones at its Booster Stations at Mampong and Beposo in the Ashanti Region. Mr. Asega Haruna, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Company, made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Kumasi, at the weekend.

He attributed the current perennial water problem at Daaho, Bosofour, Jetiase, Nsuta and Beposo to low pressure because of the old and weak pumps at some of the company's booster stations at Mampong and Beposo. Mr. Haruna said, under the World Bank's sponsored project, the Booster Stations are being rehabilitated with the installation of new pumps and assured that their completion would improve the water supply system at Mampong and its environs.

He explained that technicians at the company's Based Shop in Kumasi started with the installation but had to be recalled to work in a major problem at Barekese Dam site and expressed the hope that they would soon return to Mampong whenever the work was completed. The P.R.O. regretted that the water problem at Mampong and its environs for the past five years have not only affected the people but the company as well as in loosing substantial revenue.
