The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in a joint exercise with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has ordered the immediate closure of all Tourism Enterprises within the La Pleasure Beach.
Officials of GTA led by its CEO, Akwasi Agyeman and deputies , Ekow Sampson and Isaac Adomako Mensah were joined by officials of EPA , the Ghana police service and the media as they inspected the resort.
Speaking to the media after a meeting with the Management, Mr. Agyeman said the action was part of GTA's ongoing campaign to sanitise the system and ensure that Tourism enterprises react positively to its campaign for Responsible Tourism.
"The heap of refuse being burnt, broken down washroom facilities, unhygenic kitchen conditions, plastics littered around are not things we can overlook", Mr. Agyeman disclosed.
The Authority said they had called for an emergency meeting with the La Traditional Council and the La Community Youth Group on Wednesday, 13th June, 2018.
Depending on the outcome of the meeting tomorrow, the GTA will announce a plan of action for the re-opening.
