GSE Index Inches Up

The Ghana Stock Exchange All-Share Index, the key measure of the Accra Bourse, inched up by 0.15 points on Friday to end a week of mixed blessings. The Index crept to close at 1,738.99 from 1,738.84 points in an active market.

Traded volumes soared at 403,700 shares compared to 108,400 on Wednesday on the back of Enterprise Insurance Company, which sold 361,700 shares. There were two price changes - both positive.

Standard Chartered Bank, the highest priced equity, which jumped 1,999 cedis at the previous close was up again by one cedi to close at 34,001 cedis and Guinness Ghana Limited was up three cedis at 1,226 cedis.

Market capitalisation was up at 7,736.80 billion cedis from 7,736.49 billion cedis on Wednesday.
