GPTRU wants common syllabus for all driving schools

Accra, June 8, GNA - The Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPTRU) on Monday appealed to the government to introduce a common syllabus for all driving schools. Mr Alando A. Sidik, General Secretary of the GPTRU, told the GNA in an interview that such a move would ensure a common standard for all professional drivers.

He said the way driving schools were left to work out their own syllabi make products from such schools not to operate uniformly. Mr Alando appealed to government to assist the GPTRU in establishing training centres to help build the capacity of members of the union. He said for far too long drivers have not been treated in the same way public and civil servants are given budgetary allocation to improve upon their lot, yet drivers play a very crucial role in the economic activities of the country.
