GPRTU expresses concern about delay of completion of road

Tepa (Ash), Jan 5, GNA - The Tepa branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) in the Ahafo-Ano North District has expressed concern about the delay in the completion of the 45-kilometre Mankranso-Tepa trunk road started more than two years ago.

The union has therefore called on the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) and Kocks Consult, the consultant, to compel the contractor, P and W Ghanem, to complete the project.

Mr Nicholas Boampong, secretary of the Tepa branch of the union, said the contractor had left heaps of sand on the Tepa-Wioso portion of the road, uncompleted gutters and un-tarred isolated stretches and described the situation as dangerous to motorists.

He said the bridge over River Abu, which is one kilometre away from Tepa, was narrow and weak and called for its replacement because of the heavy trucks that use the road.
