GPL week six best XI

Asante Kotoko’s Emmanuel Gyamfi keeps stealing the headlines with his stupendous performances and replicated that in their game against Elmina Sharks on Sunday. His late strike won the day for Kotoko while their bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak fell flat on their belly in Dormaa Ahenkro.

Daniel Darkwah and Derick Sasraku masterminded the Hearts defeat while Stephen Sarfo and Michael Kporvi got a brace each to help Berekum Chelsea and Tema Youth respectively to register wins.

The Manager of the Week went to Randolph Armah who was officially the coach of Berekum Chelsea with the system for the week being 4:4:2.



John Moosie (GK) – Berekum Chelsea: Chelsea scored five against AshGold but Moosie had to ensure the 4-goal lead hanged until the end of the game. He pulled three great saves to prevent AshGold from reducing the tally. He ended up winning the man of the match.

Godfred Saka – Aduana Stars: Saka was one of the main reasons Hearts fell in Dormaa. His experience came to bear as one of his crosses brought the second goal for the home side.

Daniel Darkwah – Aduana Stars: If there was a player who prevented Hearts from getting even a point in Dormaa, it was Daniel Darkwah. He was apt in his movements and solid with his tackles. He scored the first goal for Aduana Stars.

Kingsley Nteng – Ebusua Dwarfs: Dwarfs pipped Medeama SC to move to 6th on the league log. Nteng was the instrumentalist. He guided the Dwarfs defence well and cleared all the dangerous balls. His fantastic performance won him the player of the match.

Abdul Wahab Ahadzi – Berekum Chelsea: Ahadzi could have won the player of the match but for the saves of Moosie. He was apt in his tackles and very intelligent in how he handled the AshGold attackers.

Braimah Mohammed – Berekum Chelsea: Braimah was the engine of the Chelsea side. He orchestrated his passes very well, went in for tackles on time and dismantled the AshGold midfield. He scored the fourth goal for Chelsea from a thunderous strike.

Emmanuel Gyamfi – Kotoko: The swift winger set the whole Baba Yara Stadium on fire with his late strike against Elmina Sharks. But for the Sharks defence, Gyamfi could have scored or setup Yakubu to put Kotoko ahead. He was simply magnificent for Kotoko on Sunday.

Noah Martey – Aduana Stars: The chief driver of the Aduana Stars midfield was Noah Martey. Hearts of Oak simply could not discover a strategy of handling him on Sunday and his accurate tailor-measured passes created a lot of trouble for Hearts. He emerged the man of the match of the game.

Stephen Sarfo – Berekum Chelsesa: Sarfo hit a brace against AshGold on Sunday. He also provided an assist to get his side’s last goal. He was thorn-in the flesh of the AshGold defence.

Michael Kporvi – Tema Youth: He scored a brace, fought and bullied way through the Bolga All Stars defence anytime he wanted to. His two goals were classic and many wondered why he did not win the player of the match.

Benjamin Tweneboah – Elmina Sharks: Very smallish in appearance but troublesome in performance. Tweneboah gave Kotoko a good run for their money but thanks to their resolute defence, they survived.
