GPL: Break will not affect Kotoko’s title chances – Felix Annan

The skipper of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Felix Annan says their resolve to win the Ghana Premier League remains unchanged despite the break.

The outbreak of the coronavirus has resulted in an indefinite suspension of the league.

Kotoko were third on the log with 25 points, 3 points adrift league leaders Aduana Stars before the hiatus.

Annan who has lost first team slot to Kwame Baah told Graphic Sports that he is confident of the chances of his club when the league returns.

“It will not affect our chances in the league at all because we are all coming back to work hard. I know it will not be easy but we will come back to work hard and fight for the title,” Annan stated.

He, however, admitted that despite the personal training being done by each player, the break will affect their performance.

He averred that the individual training is meant to keep them in shape physically but the lack of team training will have adverse effect on how they play as a unit.

“Even though we are training on our own, it is not like training on the pitch but we understand that we’re in a critical situation where life is more important so we need to stay home”.

Annan has been Kotoko’s safest pair of hands for the last three seasons but has lost his position to Kwame Baah who looks to be the favourite of coach Maxwell Konadu.

He recently caused a stir on social media with a cryptic message that many interpreted to be a dig at Maxwell Konadu.
