State-owned Oil Marketing Company, GOIL PLC, has announced that it has reclaimed its position as the top oil marketing company (OMC) in the country, marking a notable turnaround in its competitive standing within the downstream petroleum sector.
In a statement shared on social media, the company’s Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Edward Abambire Bawa, confirmed the development and credited the achievement to the dedication and efforts of staff across the organisation.
"I am pleased to share that GOIL PLC has regained its number one position, an achievement made possible by your dedication and hard work," he stated.

Bawa also acknowledged the contributions of various teams within the company, including the marketing department, dealers, and forecourt personnel, noting that their consistent performance and commitment played a major role in restoring the company’s leading position.
"To our marketing team, staff, dealers, and forecourt personnel, your commitment, resilience, and execution have been truly instrumental," he added.
He further expressed appreciation to customers and stakeholders, crediting their continued trust and support as a key factor in the company’s success.
"I sincerely thank you for your outstanding contribution. I also extend heartfelt appreciation to our loyal customers and stakeholders; your trust continues to power our success," Bawa said.
Looking ahead, the Group CEO urged staff and partners not to become complacent, emphasising that the company’s current achievement should serve as a stepping stone for even greater progress.
"Let us not relent. This milestone is only a foundation. Together, we must push even harder to consolidate our lead and set even higher standards for ourselves and the industry. Keep delivering excellence," he noted.
The milestone sees GOIL overtaking Star Oil, which had occasionally emerged as the leading oil marketing firm in terms of petroleum sales volumes over the past few years.
GOIL had historically held the top position before being temporarily surpassed by Star Oil in certain periods.
