The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a warning of a heavy rainstorm and potential flooding across parts of the country, following severe storm waves advancing from Nigeria and Benin.
In an official alert, GMet stated that the rainstorm is expected to bring thunderstorms and rainfall of varying intensities as it moves across Ghana on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
The agency also cautioned that strong winds are expected in several regions, increasing the risk of flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
GMet calls for collective action on marine safety
GMet is urging the public to take immediate safety precautions and stay updated on further advisories as the severe weather system continues to advance.
Regions likely to be affected include parts of the Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Central, Upper East, Northern, Savannah, Ashanti, Upper West, Bono, and Western Regions.
