The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will begin the printing and issuance of membership Identity (ID) cards this week, ending more than a decade of delays caused by financial and technical challenges.

This follows a successful agreement between the GJA and Margins Group, a Ghanaian company specialising in secure identity solutions, card manufacturing, and digitalisation services.

The production is being sponsored by KGL Group.

In a press release from the Ghana Journalists Association, dated June 23, 2025, members are required to submit a soft copy of a passport-size photograph in JPG format, taken on a white background, to the email address gja.passportphoto@gmail.com.

The photo, it said, must be of high quality, and ‘selfies’ will not be accepted and must be accompanied by the member’s full name, organisation, region, and contact details.

According to the GJA, the cards will be processed and delivered based on the order of receipt of submissions. Priority, it stated, will be given to members in good standing, as listed in the national dailies recently.

GJA President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, who took office in 2022, said addressing the long-standing issue of ID cards was a key commitment of his administration.

“I am very excited to see this day finally come, and I believe members will be equally excited about this development, given the fact that they have been so much concerned about their ID cards,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to Margins Group and KGL Group for supporting the initiative and helping the Association fulfil its promise to members.
